The U.S. has taken custody of the alleged bomb maker in the 1988 Lockerbie attack.

The suspect, Abu Agila Mohammad Mas'ud, was taken into custody after admitting his involvement in the bombing to Libyan authorities.

The bombing killed 270 people, including 190 Americans.

Mas'ud will make his initial court appearance in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Mas'ud is believed to have set the timer on the explosive.

The FBI called the investigation into the bombing one of the most complex in its history.

In 2020, U.S. authorities announced a breakthrough in the case with Mas'ud's arrest.

The families of the victims have been notified of Mas'ud's arrest.
